How does Marie’s Original Poison Ivy/ Oak Soap work?
Our natural remedy helps prevent the development of a rash due to urushiol (the skin-irritating oily resin found on poison ivy, oak, and sumac) exposure. The treatment also provides immediate relief from the itchy, red, uncomfortable rash caused by these pesky plants, with a completely natural, herbal formula.
Does the soap contain any dyes?
Our soap is absolutely free of artificial dyes, synthetic fragrances, petroleum, phthalates, SLS, parabens, and GMO’s. The bentonite clay and sassafras root bark in our soap give it a rich, beautiful black color. With simply pure ingredients, the soap has a natural bold hue.
Is poison ivy contagious?
While the rash itself is not contagious and doesn’t get passed from person to person, the concern of spreading is due to the urushiol oil (when it is still on the skin). There is no oil in oozing skin or in blister fluid, so you need not be worried about spreading it from one area of your body to another.
Can poison ivy spread in the shower?
This can occur if the urushiol oil is still on the skin. In addition, hot showers can worsen the effects of the oils and further the spread. Once the urushiol oil is removed, warm showers can be soothing and help relieve the itch.
How long does poison ivy last on the skin for?
Typically, poison ivy resolves on its own within a couple of weeks. However, in more serious cases, the symptoms may take longer to fully resolve.
